According to the current UN Secretary-General, Mr Antonio Guterres, “more than 65 million people are currently displaced because of conflicts around the world”.

World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity to pay tribute to those who face danger and adversity to help  the others.

This date was chosen by the UN General Assembly (in its resolution 63/139) in connection with the August 19th 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, which caused the death of 22 people.
